The Unleashed Performance Reading Half Marathon, first held in 1983, is a half marathon road running event held on the streets of the English town of Reading. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the race was cancelled in 2020, and the 2021 race was postponed from April to November. Thousands of runners participated in the 2021 Unleashed Performance Reading Half Marathon following the two-year break.
Thanks to the efforts of Foresolutions and our UK distributor JustCom, all the wireless communication and dispatching services during the event adopted the Caltta eChat Push To Talk over Cellular (PoC) end-to-end solution, including eChat platform, radios and dispatching consoles.
More than 6,000 runners took part in this year’s event, making the Reading Half Marathon one of the major events in the running calendar. In order to ensure the smooth running of this event, Caltta and JustCom started on-site tests a few days before the event and adjusted the entire eChat system for optimum use. Various emergency plans were put into place, including experts for all-day online support on the day of the marathon in the unlikely event of an issue arising, to ensure a quick response and timely trouble-shooting.
